Knights complete weekend sweep

Clarkson continued to push the pace today and completed Sacred Heart’s two-game sweep.

Clarkson was able to eliminate an early 2-player advantage for Sacred Heart and then put pressure on Pioneers goaltender Frankie Sanchez. The Knights held a 10-0 shooting lead after 12 minutes of play when Haley winn got his second of the weekend. His unassisted goal at 14:22 gave the Knights a 1-0 lead. Jenna goodwin got her first as a Golden Knight and the Knights were up 2 after one.

The second period, the Knights scored the third goal of their first year when Baliee Kirwan scored at 7:16 from Olivia hanson and Stephanie Markowski. Caitrin Lonergan scored his second goal at the weekend to give the Knights a 4-0 lead after two.

Sacré-Coeur was able to get on the board at 10:07 of the third when Erin Fleming managed to overtake Amanda Zeglen. Clarkson responded just 20 seconds later when Jenna goodwin got his second of the game to complete the scoring for the Knights.

Amanda Zeglen made 13 saves at the net for the Knights, she was relived by Alexa Madrid at the 4:37 mark. Madrid did not face any shots. Clarkson was 1 for 6 on the power play, and the Pioneers were 0 for 4.

Clarkson will then travel to Syracuse to face the Orange on Thursday, October 7, then host the Orange on Saturday. October 9.
