The Real Madrid Foundation has worked projects in Colombia since 2008 and is currently working on 36 schools and socio-sports projects in the country in collaboration with the Revel Foundation, the Concívica Foundation, the Community of Ministers of Disabled-Religious Camillians and the IDB (Inter-American Development Bank).
8,000 Colombian children
These projects are aimed at 8,000 children in Colombia. These children are threatened with exclusion and are therefore educated in values through sport every week. Colombia is the Latin American country with the highest number of socio-sports projects carried out by the Real Madrid Foundation and last season, ties with the country were further strengthened with the alliance with the National Apprenticeship Service of Colombia (SENA) for the online training of people with limited resources via the Foundation’s online learning platform, Sports & Values Academy TV.
Through the Foundationprojects, beneficiaries are sensitized to values through sport and they acquire tools that strengthen their skills for entrepreneurship and employability. They also cover their basic needs in terms of food, schooling and health services.
Contribution to community development
During the meeting, they analyzed the role that the Real Madrid Foundation will play in Colombia as a promoter of sport and values for the comprehensive education of children in need and its contribution to the continued development of communities, within the framework of the sustainable development goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
The presidents also signed a letter of intent to endorse the collaboration between the Real Madrid Foundation and Colombian public institutions.
